Dam Refurbishment a Success

The Big Bend Dam, constructed by the Army Corps of Engineers, provides flood control, irrigation, and electricity for residents of central South Dakota. When it needed to be refurbished, PEM provided the gearboxes that power the intake gates. PEM reverse engineered the components in need of replacement. Since Big Bend is an active power-generating station, work was completed three gearboxes at a time in order to minimize service interruptions.
