Our design department is staffed with mechanical engineers, design engineers, and CAD technicians. A large percentage of our machining operations are completed by CNC machines with the latest software. We pride ourselves on retaining highly skilled machinists who are continuously trained in the latest techniques. We have been designing custom gearboxes for over 40 years and are well-versed in adverse applications. From helicopter test stands to steel levelers, in any environment imaginable, our solutions will work for you.

All gearboxes have the option of using our trademarked gear tooth design we call MEGAGEAR®. The MEGAGEAR® allows for up to 35% more torque than a gear of the same diameter with a typical tooth design. We can even retrofit our MEGAGEARS® into your existing box by another manufacturer.

All of PEM’s gearboxes are designed for long life in applications
when a high AGMA service factor is needed.

After many hours of design and testing, PEM is a leader of the split power gearbox design. We can divide the horsepower into numerous configurations between multiple output shafts. PEM’s split power gearboxes are designed for long life in applications when a high AGMA service factor is needed. Numerous input/output configurations are possible. To date, we have produced units with as many as many as 17 outputs with 2 pinch rollers; 1,000 Hp; and 125,000 ft.-lbs. of torque. Though mostly used in the leveler industry, different industries are finding it beneficial to use in other applications.

PEM’s offset parallel shaft gearboxes are designed to provide a simple design in a compact, durable and extremely reliable package. PEM has patented a unique flywheel design that will allow these units to go into high shock load applications that need an AGMA service factor of Class 3 or above. We have designed and produced units with as much as 11,000 Hp.

Like all of our products, these planetary drives are custom designed to meet our customer specific requirements when a small foot print is critical. We have designed planetary gearboxes with torque ratings that exceed 1,000,000 ft.-lbs.
